Jayson Christopher Tatum (/tetm/; born March 3, 1998) is an NBA basketball player who currently plays for the Boston Celtics (NBA). Tatum, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, attended Chaminade College Preparatory School, where he was a five-star recruit and one of the best players in the Class of 2016 according to recruiting organisations. Tatum went to Creve Coeur, Missouri’s Chaminade College Preparatory School He was selected 2013 Metro Catholic Conference Co-Player of the Year as a freshman, averaging 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while guiding the Red Devils to MCC and Missouri District 2 titles. He averaged 26.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore in 2014.

Tatum averaged 25.9 points per game as a junior.Prior to his senior year, Tatum chose Duke University over North Carolina, Kentucky, and his mother and father’s alma mater, Saint Louis University, near his hometown. Tatum led Chaminade to its second Missouri Class 5A state championship as a senior in 2015–16, averaging 29.6 points and 9.1 rebounds with six 40-point games.  Tatum was named to the 2016 McDonald’s All-American Game in January 2016, where he won the Skills competition, and then played in the all-star game on March 30, 2016, at the United Center in Chicago, where he led the East Team in scoring.

Tatum missed eight games before the start of the 2016–17 season due to a foot issue. In his Duke debut on December 3, 2016, Tatum scored 10 points in a 94–55 win over Maine. At the Jimmy V Classic on December 6, 2016, Tatum had 22 points and 8 rebounds in an 84–74 victory over Florida. Tatum was selected ACC Freshman of the Week on December 12, 2016. After averaging 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game for the Blue Devils, Tatum was chosen to the All-ACC Tournament squad. He set a postseason record with 21 points in Game 4 and then broke it again in Game 6 with 22.  The Celtics were victorious over the Hawks.

Tatum had 23 points, 9 rebounds, and three assists in the Celtics’ 105–87 triumph over the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2018–19 season opener. He had 24 points and 14 rebounds in a 103–101 win over the New York Knicks on October 20.  Tatum had 24 points and 6 rebounds in a 101–95 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 25. Tatum set a career best with 39 points and 12 rebounds in a 119–93 win over the Charlotte Hornets on December 22, 2019.  On January 11, 2020, he would set a new career best with 41 points in a 140–105 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
