Christopher Brian Bridges  better known as Ludacris is an American rapper and actor who was born on September 11, 1977. Ludacris signed with Def Jam South after founding his own label, Disturbing Peace, in the late 1990s, and went on to become one of the first Dirty South rappers to attain mainstream recognition with his subsequent releases. Ludacris has won numerous awards for his music. Ludacris was born in Champaign, Illinois, and moved to Atlanta at the age of nine, where he began rapping. After a brief time as a DJ, he self-released his first album, Incognegro, in 1999, to little success. The following year, he gained national notoriety with his major label debut, Back for the First Time, which featured the smash singles “Southern Hospitality” and “Southern Hospitality.”

Family Life of Ludacris:

Under the alias “Chris Lova Lova,” Bridges worked as an intern and subsequently as a DJ at Atlanta’s Hot 97.5 (now Hot 107.9).  At one point, he was also known for DJing during Freaknik. Timbaland and Ludacris collaborated on the single “Phat Rabbit” from Timbaland’s album Tim’s Bio: Life from da Bassment. This song was a smash hit in a number of nations.

Ludacris began recording his debut album Incognegro in 1998, and it was released in August 1999 by his then-independent label, Disturbing tha Peace. Ludacris’ quick, chaotic, and comic flow, a unique style for southern rappers, was showcased on this album. His breakthrough single “What’s Your Fantasy,” which reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, provided support for the album.


Due to the success of its hits, it won the artist a record deal with Def Jam Recordings’ (Def Jam South) Southern division. Ludacris’ major label debut, Back for the First Time, was released in 2000. The album charted at number four on the Billboard 200 in the United States and was a huge hit. Singles like “Southern Hospitality” (with Pharrell Williams) helped the album gain traction in the industry.

Ludacris quickly finished and released his next album, Word of Mouf, at the end of 2001. The video for the lead song, “Rollout (My Business),” was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2002, and Ludacris performed it live during the pre-show of the awards. He collaborated with Sleepy Brown on the hits “Saturday (Oooh Oooh),” “Move Bitch” with Mystikal and I-20, and “Area Codes” with Nate Dogg.

Ludacris returned to the music arena in the spring of 2003 with a new single, “Act a Fool,” off the 2 Fast 2 Furious album, following a brief break; Ludacris first played his character Tej Parker in the film. Around the same time, he released “P-Poppin” , the lead single from his album Chicken-n-Beer. Neither of his new singles has been warmly received by the public.
