She disappointed art film lovers (but not the typical Italian spectator) after an impressive debut at the young age of 17 in Castellani’s neo-realistic masterpiece “Due soldi di speranza” (playing Carmela, the fiancée of a young unemployed man) starring in a large number of popular flicks, mostly musicals set in Naples, during the fifties and early sixties.

Relationship

In the mid-sixties, she vanished from the big screen to focus on the dubbing firm she had founded. Via hit TV mini-series such as “Quei 36 gradini” (1984), “Little Roma” (’88) and “Pronto Soccorso” (‘ 90-’92), Maria Fiore returned to mainstream success. She died, aged 68, of lung cancer.
