Robert Lawrence Stine (/stan/; born October 8, 1943) is an American author, short storey writer, television producer, screenwriter, and executive editor who is also known as Jovial Bob Stine and Eric Affabee. Stine has been dubbed the “Stephen King of children’s literature”and is the author of numerous horror fiction works, including the Fear Street, Goosebumps, and Roald Dahl series.

Between 1975 and 1984, Scholastic Press published 72 issues of Bananas for teenagers, as well as numerous “Yearbooks” and paperback books. Stine served as editor and was responsible for much of the writing (other contributors included Robert Leighton, Suzanne Lord, and Jane Samuels, among others).
Stine began writing Fear Street books in 1989. Stine wrote three funny science fiction books in the Space Cadets series before starting the Goosebumps series: Jerks in Training, Bozos on Patrol, and Losers in Space.Goosebumps was published in 1992 by Stine and Parachute Press.
