Serj Tankian is a singer, musician, composer, record producer, and political activist of Armenian descent. He is most known for being the lead vocalist, major lyricist, pianist, and occasional rhythm guitarist for the 1994 heavy metal band System of a Down. Elect the Dead’s official tour began on October 12, 2007, with a performance at Chicago’s Vic Theatre. The initial concert drew around a thousand people. Despite Tankian’s declaration that he would not be singing any System of a Down material, he did perform “Charades” and “Blue,” songs co-written by the band’s guitarist, Daron Malakian. On the song “Terminal Beauty,” Tankian collaborated with Les Rita Mitsouko.
