Steven Hiroyuki Aoki (/eoki/; Japanese: ) (born November 30, 1977) is an American DJ, record producer, music programmer, and record executive, as well as the heir to his father Rocky Aoki’s Benihana restaurant franchise empire Aoki was named the highest grossing dance artist in North America from tours by Pollstar in 2012

Aoki grew up in Newport Beach, California, after being born in Miami, Florida. He was a member of the varsity badminton team at Newport Harbor High School, where he graduated in 1995.  He is the third child of Rocky Aoki and Chizuru Kobayashi, and is of Japanese origin.  His father was a former wrestler and the founder of the Benihana restaurant business. He has two older siblings: a younger sister, Kana, and a younger brother.

In 1996, Aoki launched his own record label, Dim Mak Records. MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, Felix Cartal, and Mustard Pimp, as well as Bloc Party, The Rakes, The Kills, Klaxons, Infected Mushroom, Scanners, Whitey, and Mystery Jets, have all recorded music on the label. Remixes were created by Aoki and Blake Miller of the Los Angeles-based band Moving Units.

Aoki’s latest single “Pretender,” featuring AJR and rapper Lil Yachty, was released on May 18, 2018.  Aoki remixed Rita Ora’s popular single “Girls” with Charli XCX, Bebe Rexha, and Cardi B in June 2018.  Later same month, they released a cover of “Bella Ciao” with Italian DJ Marnik, which sparked controversy. The new dance music version of the song was deemed offensive and improper.

The Jackson 5, Drake, Kanye West, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Mike Posner, Girls Generation, All American Rejects, Refused, The Killers, Bassnectar, Lenny Kravitz, Bloc Party, Snoop Dogg, Robin Thicke, S.P.A., Kid Cudi, Fernando Oviedo, Chester French, BTS, and Peaches are just a few of the artists and bands that Aoki has remixed. He remixed “The Wind Blows,” which appears on the UK edition of The All-America Songbook.

He was able to get a lot of college support by touring relentlessly. He is well-known for his acrobatic crowd surfing feats, which include throwing cake at fans, spraying champagne bottles, and dancing on rafts. In March 2010, Aoki released “I’m in the House,” a collaboration with Zuper Blahq, the Black Eyed Peas’ alter-ego. i.am.The song debuted at No. 29 on the UK Singles Rank in its first week of release, then went on to chart at No. 5 on the UK Dance Chart and No. 5 on the UK Indie Chart. The song was featured in an episode of MTV’s Jersey Shore as well as in a film.

On October 11, 2013, Aoki and Linkin Park collaborated on the song “A Light That Never Comes”, which was released 18 days later on the remix album Recharged. On the January 2014 digital download EP A Light That Never Comes, several remixes of the song were included (Remixes).  The song “A Light That Never Comes” was featured in films such as The Expendables 3 and The Expendables 2. In the 2013 Ame competition, Aoki came in sixth place.

Neon Future I, the first part of Aoki’s two-part album, was released on September 30, 2014, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart in the United States.  Snoop Lion and Rivers Cuomo are among the performers on the second album, Neon Future II.  It reached No. 32 on the Billboard 200, No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Albums, and No. 4 on Independent Albums in the United States.

Steve Aoki Presents Kolony, Aoki’s fourth studio album, was released on July 21, 2017. It includes the tracks “Night Call” (containing Migos and Lil Yachty), “Lit” (featuring Gucci Mane), “Been Balling” (featuring Lil Uzi Vert), and the lead single “Without You” (featuring DVBBS and 2 Chainz), which was published in April and debuted at Aoki’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami.  Following Linkin Pa’s death,
