Troye Sivan Mellet is an Australian singer-songwriter, actor, and YouTuber who was born on June 5, 1995. Sivan signed with EMI Australia in 2013 after garnering recognition as a vocalist on YouTube and in Australian talent competitions. His third extended play, TRXYE (2014), debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 in the United States. The album’s first song, “Happy Little Pill,” charted at number 10 in Australia. In 2015, he released his fourth extended play Wild, followed by his debut studio album Blue Neighbourhood, the lead single of which was “Youth,” which reached number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Sivan’s musical career began when he performed at the Channel Seven Perth Telethon in 2006, 2007, and 2008. A duet with Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian was part of his 2006 performance. Sivan made it to the StarSearch 2007 finals. He published “For Them” in 2009 in order to raise awareness and finances for homeless children. Dare to Dream, his debut EP, was released in June 2007. Sivan debuted “We Are the World 25 for Haiti (YouTube Edition)” in February 2010, a collaborative music charity video produced by Lisa Lavie to assist raise money for Haiti earthquake victims. Sivan signed with EMI Australia, a Universal Music Australia label, on June 5, 2013, but kept it a secret until a year later. He released TRXYE, a five-song EP, on August 15, 2014, with the first track “Happy Little Pill,” which was published on July 25, 2014. TRXYE premiered at No. 1 in over 55 countries on iTunes. The next week, the EP landed at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, giving Sivan his first Top 10 record. The Australian Recording Industry Association certified “Happy Little Pill” gold for shipments exceeding 35,000 copies when it reached number 10 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

Despite the fact that Kodi Smit-McPhee had previously been cast in the role, he was unable to participate owing to his other picture, The Road. In July 2009, he auditioned for the lead part in Spud, a cinematic adaptation of the South African author’s 2005 novel.
